Winterization
We designed a container modular steam heating system for equipment operating on an oil platform operating in difficult weather conditions such as these:
– strong sea winds;
– ambient temperature of -20°C;
– rain and snowfall;
– freezing rain.
The project included the construction of two Aalborg-Alfa laval boilers together with the complete infrastructure necessary for the operation of the entire system, such as: tanks, pumps, exchangers, control and automation systems.
The designed system uses two boilers with a capacity of 2300kg/h each. The boilers run in parallel and produce steam up to a 5-inch common collector located at the top of the container module. The distribution system is based on four main branches running on individual decks.
Everything was designed in accordance with the guidelines of DNV (Det Norske Veritas),
NORSOK and NMD (Norwegian Maritime Directorate).
